The Places We Serve
Fueling economic growth and opportunities in our communities
We have learned a lot over the past three decades about fueling equitable growth and opportunities in our communities. That is why we work to foster deep connections with communities by taking a place-based approach to economic development that centers our work around the people and places we serve. We start by listening to our communities, then co-create programs, services, and products tailored to meet each community’s needs. The result? Capital Impact’s investments, relationships, and programs leave a positive, lasting impact for generations to come.

Real People, Real Impact
“In addition to creating ‘developers,’ Capital Impact’s EDI program has created people who are more knowledgeable within the real estate space. The program has taken an underrepresented population and taught them how real estate development works, how capital works, how equity works, and how wealth works. The EDI program has brought different voices to the table.”
Cliff Brown, managing partner, Woodborn Partners and EDI program mentor
“ChiFresh planned to serve meals to after-school and summer programs, but as we launched in the midst of this crisis, we pivoted to meet the immediate needs facing our communities. This [Co-op Innovation Award] grant allows us to partner with our fellow Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)-owned worker cooperative farms and food operators to address COVID-related food insecurity. With Capital Impact’s support, we can use this moment to build up the infrastructure for cooperatives to play a larger role in our local food ecosystem long-term.”
Camille Kerr, ChiFresh Kitchen co-founder and worker-owner
“The food industry provides a path to jobs and entrepreneurship for many people. EatsPlace is excited to be working with Capital Impact Partners to provide technical and financial assistance to this hard-hit industry.”
Katy Chang, chef and founder of EatsPlace
